Fizzy Lifting Drinks are an unreleased soda pop created by Willy Wonka. They are made and located in the room labeled "Fizzy Lifting Drinks."
One who consumes Fizzy Lifting Drinks will be filled with gas and sent up into the air like a balloon. Seemingly dangerous at first, the way to counter the effects of the Fizzy Lifting Drinks is to burp. It is not known how much is needed for the effects to work.
In the bookEdit
Willy Wonka gave one Oompa-Loompa the Fizzy lifting Drink to consume for an outside test. After drinking some for a test, the Oompa-Loompa, for some unknown reason, could not burp and ended up lost in the sky. Willy Wonka screamed for the Oompa-Loompa to burp, but the Oompa-Loompa did not. It is possible the Oompa-Loompa had reached the planet Uranus at the time of the Wonka Factory Tour, but that was only a guess made by Mr. Wonka. The Oompa-Loompa in question is presumed dead.
In the 1971 filmEdit
After Violet Beauregarde blew up like a blueberry, Willy Wonka showed the drinks to the remainder of the tourists in a room filled with bubbles and a large fan way up high in the air, possibly a couple hundred feet. Wonka says he can't sell it yet as it's still too powerful and warned them against drinking the soda, much to the disappointment of the group. However, Grandpa Joe and Charlie Bucket drank the soda after the rest of the group left the room. The drink took effect a few seconds after consumption, and Charlie and Grandpa Joe were sent up in the air, pretending to be rockets and birds and other flying objects. Eventually, the two were in danger of flying high into the spinning fan at the top of the room. Charlie and Grandpa Joe had to burp their way down to safety.
After the tour, Willy Wonka was mad at the two for stealing Fizzy Lifting Drinks, and told them (as part of the test) that they lost the lifetime supply of chocolate prize for violating the contract. But when Charlie returns the Everlasting Gobstopper back to Wonka, he declares Charlie is the winner.
